Elafonisi is located 73 km southwest of Chania and is named after a small islet. A narrow strip of sea with warm, shallow waters separates Crete from this small island, which is approximately 200 meters from the shore and can be visited on foot. The beach and the surrounding area are part of the Natura 2000 protection network, and along the coastline, you will find several fenced-off areas aimed at protecting the local vegetation.
